The MLB owners and players have been negotiating for ten weeks on how to have a baseball season in 2020 with covid-19. Greed on both parts stopped them from ever coming to an agreement. Now it’s too late. Covid-19 caught up with the teams still practicing in Florida and Arizona, and I don’t see the high-priced beef ever getting on the field this year for fear of the illness. Ironically, South Korea, a country that learned case ball from the Americans is playing their season without crowds or infection, but American players and owners can’t get passed their money issues. They have lost their appreciation for the game, and maybe their dreams.

On this memorial day of 2020, I would like to honor the true heroes for which this day was given, the American war casualties of war whom seem to have been forgotten during this pandemic. In this nation’s great history a total of 2,852,801 Americans have died in her wars or approximately 3% of the population. These are Americans that were torn from their lives either by the war itself, in the case of the Revolutionary and Civil War, or by the draft.

The following is aa letter I sent to my Michigan State Representative to have our recalled.
Dear Representative;

I’m a resident of Washtenaw County. I’m writing you to represent us against the unconstitutional executive orders of Governor Whitmer who is governing by inducing fear in a time when Michiganders are already frightened. She appears to be doing so for her own political bid for TV time and the Vice Presidency. It seems to be all personal at the expense of the people of Michigan.

his pandemic has shown us the true faces of humanity. One the one hand , you have saints like Drew Brees who donated five million dollars to feed the hungry of New Orleans, and the front-line workers who risk their lives in hospitals. On the other hand, you have the larger group: the thieves, hoarders, and scammers. The video that disgusted me was the one of two women punching it out at the store over a package of toilet paper. It’s toilet paper, ladies! Are you really going to risk life and limb over toilet paper? At a time when thousands are dying, is there anything less essential than toilet paper? You couldn’t stop, and think of an alternative to fighting over a roll of thin paper that you’re only going to soil and flush?

One of the joys I’ve found in life has been my long-standing friendships with others. That could explain my love of sports. Through sports, I’ve been involved with many teams and teammates. It’s been through sports, mostly football, that I’ve developed friendships spanning two continents, three countries, and fifty years. Brian was my first friend and neighbor in 1963. In 1965, his family was transferred to San Paulo, Brazil with Ford Motor Company. In 1971, my family was transferred to Mexico City with Ford. In 1974, Brian moved to Mexico City, and was once again my neighbor. Through some quirk of fate, Brian returned to the States in 1975 to the same town to which I would eventually return. He began playing football, becoming friends with my future teammates.

Back in 2/2013, I published a sci-fi thriller, The Soul Cage on Amazon after not finding a publisher. Approximately two years later, I was contacted by creative.org. They’d picked it up off a Twitter promotion, and wished to re-publish it. I didn’t see the point, but they promised a promotional effort I wasn’t providing. I signed up. The Soul cage became a top-ten earning Sci-fi by summer, 2016. True to their word, New Chapter (part of Creativa.org) has now produced an Audio version of The Soul Cage on Amazon that went online 12/28/2002. So if you’re not the reading type, you can listen to The Soul Cage, and discover what happens to the soul when a person is teleported from on location to another. Go to bookernovels.com. And click on The Soul cage book cover to take you to amazon, and download the audio file.

There is one almost certain truth. Nothing today is as good as we remember it from the past. That is true of Christmas Trees today versus twenty years ago. I recall going with my father as a child to pick out our family tree. We normally went to a sm...
